Overview

The OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Information Technology provides learners with a strong academic and practical foundation for a career in the IT sector. This qualification equips students with the confidence, analytical skills, and technical expertise to thrive in both private and public organisations.

Learners will develop detailed knowledge in cyber security, computer programming, systems analysis, mobile and web applications, digital information management, and network technologies. The programme ensures that students are “business ready”—capable of applying their IT knowledge in real-world situations and adapting to rapid changes in the digital landscape.

Successful completion allows learners to progress into further study, such as the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in IT, or gain direct entry into the second year of a UK Bachelor’s degree.

Entry Requirements

To enrol, learners must:

  • Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification (NQF/QCF/RQF or equivalent).
  • Be 18 years or older at the start of the course.

Module Structure

Learners must complete 6 mandatory units for a total of 120 credits:

  • Cyber Security – 20 credits
  • Principles of Computer Programming – 20 credits
  • Systems Analysis and Design – 20 credits
  • Web and Mobile Applications – 20 credits
  • Computer and Network Technology – 20 credits
  • Managing Digital Information – 20 credits

Accreditation

This programme is awarded by OTHM Qualifications, a UK awarding body regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).
