Overview

The OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Information Technology is designed to develop confident, independent professionals with advanced knowledge of IT and strong leadership potential. This qualification equips learners with the expertise to manage systems, analyse data, lead IT projects, and navigate the ethical and legal implications of technology in modern organisations.

It is an ideal programme for those already working in IT or aspiring to move into junior and middle management roles in either the private or public sector. The diploma also offers a direct pathway to postgraduate study, including Master’s degree programmes.

Entry Requirements

To enrol, learners must:

  • Hold a relevant Level 5 qualification (NQF/QCF/RQF or equivalent).
  • Be 18 years or older at the start of the course.

Module Structure

The qualification is made up of 6 mandatory units, totalling 120 credits:

  • Advanced Computer Networks – 20 credits
  • Advanced Data Analytics – 20 credits
  • Advanced Database Management Systems – 20 credits
  • Management Information Systems – 20 credits
  • Computers, Society and Law – 20 credits
  • IT Project Management – 20 credits

Accreditation

This diploma is awarded by OTHM Qualifications, a UK awarding body regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).
